It was time for a new adventure…

In December of 2017, Don and I moved from Charleston, SC where we had lived for 20 years to Wolfville, Nova Scotia. We called it our next great adventure. Moving to a new country is exciting, fun, terrifying, hard and wonderful. It's definitely an adventure.

I'm Anita, writer, blogger and travel bug. I grew up in the mountains of West Virginia and have lived in 5 states and 4 countries. My home has been in West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina. I've also lived in the UK, Bali, and now Canada. I'm always excited to travel someplace new.

I’m a graduate of Virginia Tech (double major in psychology and English) and did my graduate work at Appalachian State University in Clinical Psychology. I've worked as a individual and family counselor, addictions counselor, career counselor and coach, and neuro-psychometrician. Currently, I’m working as a career coach/consultant and writer at Blue Sage Career Strategies. I blog about life, work and careers at bluesagecareers.com/blog.

Don is my husband, best friend and travel partner. When he was offered the position of pastor at Port Williams United Baptist Church, we spent some time talking about what it would mean to move to a different country and decided to make the leap into a new adventure. Don is a graduate of Wake Forest University and you can always find him cheering for the Deacons. He did his seminary work at Southern in Louisville and completed his doctorate at Emory University in Atlanta. Don blogs about church, faith and life at preachingontheborder.com. He also posts his weekly sermons there so you can read along.
